Meadows progression guide

Your first safe base, food, workbench, leather, and Eikthyr prep stage.

Field note

What to do next

Build a small rested base, craft a bow, learn food timing, and beat Eikthyr before pushing into the Black Forest.

First base that does not waste time

Your first Meadows base should be small, repairable, and close to useful routes. Do not spend the first night building a castle. Build enough shelter to sleep, repair tools, cook food, and safely return after mistakes.

  • +Place the workbench, bed, fire, and a few chests before expanding walls or decoration.
  • +Build near trees, open Meadows, shoreline access, and a visible path toward Black Forest edges.
  • +Keep the fire sheltered enough to stay lit, but leave room to move without getting stuck during raids or night spawns.

Food is the first difficulty setting

Early enemies feel harmless until you fight hungry, cold, or low on stamina. Keep three foods active when exploring, hunting deer, or preparing Eikthyr. The habit matters more than the exact recipe at this stage.

  • +Cook boar meat, deer meat, and neck tails as soon as you can reliably replace them.
  • +Eat before leaving base, not after the first bad hit.
  • +Carry backup food for corpse recovery so one death does not turn into repeated naked runs.

Bow before boss

A crude bow changes Meadows progression because it makes deer hunting, Eikthyr spacing, and safer enemy pulls much easier. The bow does not need to be perfect; it needs to exist before the boss attempt.

  • +Hunt boars for leather scraps and deer for hide while scouting the local map.
  • +Craft extra arrows before summoning so the fight does not turn into a weak melee scramble.
  • +Practice stamina pacing on deer and necks before relying on bow shots during Eikthyr.

Ready to leave Meadows

Meadows is complete when you have a working home, a bow, food habits, Eikthyr defeated, and a reason to enter Black Forest. You do not need perfect armor or a giant base before bronze progression starts.

  • +Store Hard Antler safely after Eikthyr and craft the antler pickaxe.
  • +Mark Black Forest edges, but enter with a plan instead of chasing random enemies.
  • +Move into the post-Eikthyr route when copper, tin, and burial chambers become the next blockers.

Before entering

  • +Rested buff active.
  • +Crude bow with enough arrows.
  • +At least three food options.
  • +A small chest with backup tools.

First objectives

  • +Place a workbench, bed, fire, and covered shelter.
  • +Craft a crude bow and gather deer trophies.
  • +Cook meat and keep three foods active before boss attempts.
  • +Mark copper-looking Black Forest edges but do not mine yet.
  • +Summon Eikthyr when you have leather armor, a bow, and spare food.

Checklist

  • +Set spawn point at a bed.
  • +Craft a bow.
  • +Cook three food types.
  • +Gather two deer trophies.
  • +Defeat Eikthyr.

Recommended gear

  • +Crude bow
  • +Flint axe
  • +Leather armor

Food and meads

  • +Cooked boar meat
  • +Cooked deer meat
  • +Neck tail

Common mistakes

  • +Fighting Eikthyr with no rested buff.
  • +Ignoring food because early enemies feel easy.
  • +Building the first base too far from trees, water, and Black Forest access.
